Pacific Coast Highway was closed in both directions at Sunset Boulevard in the Pacific Palisades area Friday due to an investigation of what turned out to be an inactive grenade, according to the sheriff’s Malibu-Lost Hills Station.
A bomb squad called to the scene determined that the grenade posed no threat to the public, officials said.
Authorities said southbound traffic along Pacific Coast Highway was backing up into Malibu due to the road closure.
Police activity was clearing in the area by 3:30 p.m.
