A pepper tree fell in a Northridge neighborhood, downing a power line and crushing two cars owned by the same family, police said Monday. The incident occurred at 18518 Napa St. at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, said Sgt. Tim Counihan of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Station.
“We think it was from the high winds of the last two Saturday nights,” Counihan said.
Officers remained on the scene until the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power arrived and deactivated the power line, he said.
A crew from Los Angeles City Street Maintenance was ordered to remove the tree.
