Los Angeles County firefighters limited a brush fire along the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Santa Clarita to a 1 acre Wednesday, an official said.

The fire was reported at 1:57 p.m. on the southbound Golden State Freeway at Lyons Avenue and put out in about 20 minutes, Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Keith Mora said.

Firefighters in trucks were watching the area to make sure the fire did not rekindle.

How the fire started was not immediately known.
