A power pole struck down by a motorist temporarily shut down the northbound lanes of Kanan Road in Malibu on Thursday, police said.
The collision was reported at 8:43 a.m. on Kanan about two miles north of the Pacific Coast Highway and responding deputies from the Malibu Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station closed off two lanes before the investigation was handed off to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP had lanes reopened by 10:48 a.m.
Officer Jennifer Cassidy said the driver of the vehicle was hospitalized with unknown injuries.
Deputies told the CHP the driver was under the influence, Cassidy said.
Southern California Edison was contacted to move the pole off the road.
