The California Highway Patrol Friday reported no deaths on Los Angeles County highways or roads under CHP jurisdiction during the first 36 hours of the Thanksgiving holiday.
The reporting period began at 6 p.m. Wednesday and ended today at 6 a.m., according to a news statement from the CHP.
Statewide, the CHP reported seven deaths during the same period.
Last year, during the same reporting period, there were two deaths reported statewide, none in Los Angeles County.
The CHP has arrested 49 Southland motorists on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, down from last year’s l of 81.
Statewide, the CHP reported 334 DUI arrests, a reduction from last year’s of number of 401.
