A 52-year-old woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash just south of Exposition Park, and her name was released by the coroner Sunday.

Sheila Ann Fontenot-Bass of Los Angeles was pronounced dead shortly after the crash, which was at 12:19 p.m. Saturday, said Coroner’s Investigator Betsy Magdalena.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to a crash at Menlo Avenue at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, said Cody Weireter of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.

Los Angeles police Sgt. Dana Adams of the South Traffic Division said Fontenot-Bass was speeding west on King Boulevard in a passenger vehicle when she veered onto eastbound traffic and struck another passenger vehicle head on.

Fontenot-Bass’ car then spun, and was broadsided by a van going eastbound. She was pronounced dead at the scene, said Adams, adding that he had no other immediate information.

Paramedics transported a 25-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man to hospitals. Their medical conditions were not immediately known, Weireter said.
