A 16-year-old boy was shot to death Sunday in Compton.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene of the 12:35 p.m. shooting in the 1500 block of East Queensdale Street, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Deputy Lillian Peck said.

Homicide detectives were dispatched to investigate the killing.

According to ABC7, the victim was on his way to see his girlfriend when a male suspect between 16 and 18 years old approached him and the two exchanged words before the suspect opened fire and ran off.

The suspect possibly has long, curly hair and wore a dark-colored hoodie, the station reported.
