A youth fatally shot in Compton was identified Monday as a 16-year-old Compton resident.

Lontrell Turner died at the scene of the shooting, which occurred about 12:35 p.m. Sunday at Bullis Road and Queensdale Street, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

“Detectives have learned that the victim … was walking northbound on Bullis Road when he was confronted by the suspect,” Deputy Juanita Navarro- Suarez said. “Words were exchanged, and the suspect produced a handgun, shooting the victim multiple times in the upper torso.”

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 16-18 years of age, who wore a dark-blue or black hoodie, the sheriff’s department reported. According to ABC7, the victim was on his way to see his girlfriend when he was killed.
