Authorities Friday identified a man who was killed when the sports car in which he was riding struck a power pole in La Puente.
The accident occurred near the intersection of East Temple and Meeker avenues around 11 p.m. Thursday, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Greg Taylor of the Industry Station. The fatally injured man was a passenger, according to the sheriff’s department and the coroner’s office.
Juan Rivas, 20, of La Puente died at the scene, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter. The driver, who is in his 20s, was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
A videographer at the scene described the vehicle as a Nissan 350Z. The circumstances of the crash were under investigation.
