Los Angeles police sought suspects Friday in the mid-city shooting death of a man and the wounding of another, officials said.

The victims were standing in front of an apartment complex in the 1600 block of South Van Ness Avenue about 11:15 p.m. Thursday, when two men approached on foot and fired numerous shots at them, striking both, Los Angeles police said.

One victim was found down on the sidewalk and pronounced dead at the scene; the survivor was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Their names have not been released.

The suspects were described as two men wearing black hoodies. They were seen leaving the shooting location on foot, heading north, according to the LAPD.
