Sixteen people were arrested during driver’s license/sobriety checkpoints in Santa Clarita and Pico Rivera, a sheriff’s sergeant said Saturday.
In Santa Clarita, three unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court, and one vehicle was stored one day during a checkpoint, which began at 6 p.m. Friday and ended Saturday at 2 a.m., said Sgt. Daniel Dail of the sheriff’s Traffic Services Detail.
In Pico Rivera, a motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana and 12 unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court during a checkpoint at westbound Whittier Boulevard, east of Rosemead Boulevard. It began at 7 p.m. Friday and ended Saturday at 3 a.m. Dail said.
The sheriff’s sergeant did not release a location for the checkpoint in Santa Clarita.
