Authorities on Sunday released the name of a 26-year-old man killed in a gang-related shooting in Pico Rivera.
It happened about 6 p.m. Saturday in the 5400 block of Rosemead Boulevard, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Deputies responding to the location found the victim — a Pico Rivera resident — lying unresponsive on the sidewalk with wounds to his torso, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez said.
Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Navarro-Suarez said.
The victim was identified as Matthew Albert Garcia, Investigator Dana Bee of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, which reported that a passerby found the man lying next to a bicycle.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the shooting attack to call them at (323) 890-5500.
