South Pasadena police on Monday sought the public’s help in finding the hit-and-run driver responsible for injuring a couple and their infant daughter, who suffered a fractured skull, and killing their dog.

An SUV hit the Hollon family at Orange Grove Avenue and Columbia Street about 7:30 p.m. Sunday while they were out on the walk, police said.

When they entered the crosswalk, the driver of  “a newer-model, dark- colored sport utility vehicle turned from westbound Columbia Street to southbound Orange Grove Avenue, hitting the 40-year-old husband, the 30-year- old (wife) and their 4-month-old daughter — who was being held in her mother’s arms — and the family dog,” police stated.

According to police and reports from the scene, Alexandra Hollon and her daughter were hospitalized, and Bryan Hollon was treated at the scene. All were expected to survive, police said.

“The 4-month-old baby suffered a fractured skull,” South Pasadena police Chief Arthur Miller said at a news conference near the hit-and-run site.     “The mother ended up with a broken nose and cuts and contusions to her face,” Miller said. “The father ended up with some bumps and bruises on his body …”

Speaking at the news conference after being released from a hospital, Alexandra Hollon said she ”can’t rap my brain about how it happened or why it happened, and why they didn’t stop.”

Bryan Hollon said they “had taken about three steps and all of a sudden we saw the person turn in toward us. I put my hand up saying ‘stop, stop.’ There was no time to jump out of the way.”

The suspect vehicle may have been a Toyota. After the collision, the SUV continued south on Orange Grove Avenue.

Anyone with more information on the case was urged to call police at (626) 403-7280.
