Sheriff’s deputies chased and arrested three suspects in South Los Angeles who were wanted in connection with a residential burglary in Lakewood, a lieutenant said Wednesday.
The chase started at 8:51 p.m. Tuesday on Central Avenue north of the Gardena (91) Freeway, said Lt. Alicia Malone of the sheriff’s Lakewood Station.
There had been a residential burglary in Lakewood and deputies had broadcast a witness description of a maroon Mitsubishi vehicle, which a South Los Angeles deputy observed, Malone said.
The deputy followed the vehicle until sufficient cars were in place to attempt a traffic stop, but a chase began instead, Malone said.
Deputies picked up suspects during the pursuit, Malone said.
“He (the driver) was letting people out as he went and we picked them up,” Malone said.
The lone driver crashed into a parked car at Main and 81st streets at about 9:30 p.m. and was taken into custody, Malone said.
