A fire involving cardboard egg crates and paper goods that broke out near a homeless encampment in downtown Los Angeles and temporarily shut down southbound lanes of the Hollywood (101) Freeway near the scene was extinguished Friday by firefighters.

The flames which burned egg crates and other cardboard packing material in a lot 333 N. Mission Rd, where big rig trucks are parked was reported at 1:04 p.m., said fire department spokeswoman Katherine Main.

The blaze temporarily shut down southbound lanes of the 101 Freeway and the Mission Road offramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was extinguished in 33 minutes, according to Main.
