A carport and an attached rental unit suffered major damage Tuesday and a main house was rendered uninhabitable in a fire in Torrance.

The fire was reported in the 1300 block of Greenwood Avenue at 5:05 p.m., said Capt. Steve Deuel of the Torrance Fire Department. A civilian also suffered non life threatening injuries.

The fire went to a second alarm, meaning more than 25 firefighters helped battle the blaze. It took about 20 minutes to knock down.

“It was a stubborn blaze,” Deuel said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, he said.
