Authorities were investigating the death of a young man who was gunned down in a drive-by attack in the southwest Los Angeles area.

The man, in his 20s, died at the scene of the shooting, which occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Monday in the 1800 block of West 84th Street, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter. No arrests were reported.

The victim’s name was withheld, pending notification of relatives.

The crime was being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Criminal Gang Homicide Division.
