Sheriff’s detectives Sunday were investigating the kidnap and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl who was abducted from a Bassett street.
Two suspects described as Hispanic men between 20 and 27 years old were in a car that stopped in the 600 block of Van Wig Avenue, where the girl was walking about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, said Deputy Amber Smith of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
One of the suspects blindfolded the girl, who was forced into the car, Sgt. James Beamon of the sheriff’s Industry Station told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
A third Hispanic man, this one of unknown age, remained inside the vehicle, in the driver’s seat, Smith said.
“The victim told detectives she was sexually assaulted, then released,” Smith said, adding that the suspects drove south on Van Wig Avenue and out of sight after letting the girl go free.
She was dropped off in the same area where she was abducted after being warned not to report what happened, Beamon told The Tribune.
The suspects who got out of the vehicle are between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall. The Honda is possibly a late 1990s model and the first three letters of its license plate are possibly “2WE.”
