Two reputed prostitution ring members charged with robbing and murdering two men within less than a week are due in court Friday, the District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
Michael Mosby, 23, and Marina Judkins, 17, are charged with murder and second-degree robbery in the April 18, 2014, killing of Pedro Rodriguez and the April 23, 2014, killing of William Quezada. Co-defendant Tenise Dominique Taylor, 22, is also charged with Quezada’s robbery and murder.
Judkins had allegedly been sitting in a parked vehicle with each of the men — Rodriguez at Flower and 47th streets and Quezada at Flower and 48th streets, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
The criminal complaint alleges that Mosby was the gunman in both killings.
The murder charges include the special circumstance allegation of murder during the commission of a robbery, along with the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders against Mosby and Judkins.
Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penalty against Mosby and Taylor. Judkins — who was 16 at the time of the alleged crimes — is charged as an adult, but cannot face the death penalty because of her age.
Mosby and a fourth alleged prostitution ring member, Mariah Milika Jiles, 23, are charged with one count each of attempted murder, shooting at an occupied motor vehicle and child abuse involving an April 1, 2014, shooting in which Jiles allegedly opened fire on an acquaintance, who was wounded but survived. The child abuse charge involves Jiles’ 2-year-old daughter, who was in the van when her mother allegedly opened fire.
Mosby — a reputed pimp who allegedly recruited the three as prostitutes — is also facing one count of pimping a minor 16 or older.
The four have all pleaded not guilty. They are awaiting a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require them to stand trial.
