A pedestrian was struck by two vehicles and killed near an intersection in South El Monte, a sheriff’s deputy said Sunday.

The pedestrian, described as a middle age man, was struck a little after 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Rosemead Boulevard and Fern Street, said Deputy Don Moses of the sheriff’s Temple station.

Moses said the pedestrian was crossing Rosemead from the west side to the east side, where one motorist was able to avoid striking him. Another motorist did strike him and stayed at the scene. A third motorist drove over him and fled the scene.

The deputy said it was unclear which motorist may have inflicted the fatal blow to the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one was cited or arrested.
