A burglary and carjacking suspect who led authorities on a high-speed 45-minute chase was captured in the Whittier Narrows area early Thursday, authorities said.

The pursuit began in Artesia near the intersection of Jersey Avenue and South Street when deputies responded to a burglary call around 1:40 a.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. M. Nagaok, adding that the suspect gave himself up on Rosemead Boulevard near the Pomona (60) Freeway around 2:20 a.m.

The carjacking occurred in Commerce, Nagaok said. The victim was not hurt.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, faces charges including burglary, felony evasion and carjacking, Nagaok said.
