Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division will hand out fliers Thursday morning in a quest to track down witnesses to a hit-and-run accident that injured a woman and her 5-year- old grandson.

On Jan. 7, Emma Cermeno, 48, and Alvin Fuentes were crossing north on Beverly Boulevard, just east of Robinson Street, when they were struck by a Lincoln Navigator going east on Beverly, said Detective Felix Padilla of the Central Traffic Division.

The driver of the gray early 2000-model SUV didn’t stop and continued east on Beverly toward Hoover Street, Padilla said.

Cermeno was taken to County-USC Medical Center with injuries to her right arm. Her grandson was taken to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles with internal injuries, as well as injuries to his jaw and left eye.

No driver description is available. Video evidence shows the vehicle made a left turn from Hoover to eastbound Beverly just seconds before the accident.

Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the driver was asked to call detectives at (213) 833-3713.
