Detectives on Fridaysought public help in finding whoever fatally stabbed an 18-year-old man found in the Sylmar townhouse he shared with his mother and siblings.

Officers sent to 14035 Astoria St. about 9 a.m. Thursday after a 17-year-old reported that “something bad” happened to his friend made forced entry into the home and found the victim dead in his bed, Los Angeles police Lt. Paul Vernon said.

The victim was identified by police as Christopher Handy.

Handy’s mother and siblings were not at home at the time of the stabbing, Vernon said. Detectives do not believe a family member was involved in the attack.
