[symple_googlemap title=”Park shooting” location=”Broadway Park, Whittier, CA” height=”300″ zoom=”15″]A man was shot at a park in Whittier and died at a hospital, authorities said Wednesday.

The man, who was in his 20s, was wounded about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday in the park in the 12800 block of Broadway and died about 90 minutes later at a hospital, said coroner’s Chief Craig Harvey.

Authorities withheld his name, pending notification of his relatives.

According to the preliminary investigation, the man was in the park when he was approached by two males of unknown age, and one of them pulled out a gun and shot him in the chest, said Whittier police Officer John Scoggins. A motive for the crime was unknown.
