A man who allegedly robbed convenience stores in Glendale, Long Beach and Carson by brandishing a blowtorch and a Taser was charged Friday with three counts of second-degree robbery.
Jermeile Hairston, 41, was also charged with three counts of criminal threats and one count of possession of flammable material, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
He is accused of carrying out the robberies on Saturday and Sunday, and threatening to kill employees during the heists.
Glendale police said Hairston held up the Gardenia Market and Deli, 4121 Pennsylvania Ave., around 10:15 p.m. Saturday. Investigators circulated security photos of the suspect committing the crime, leading them to Hairston, who was already in custody at the Los Angeles County Jail.
Prosecutors said Hairston was convicted in 1994 of aggravated robbery in Hamilton, Ohio.
