A woman died Monday as a result of a crash on the Glendale (2) Freeway in Glendale that closed a portion of the road for about two hours, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 3 a.m. on the southbound 2 Freeway at Fern Lane, CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos said.

The 22-year-old woman, who was from Torrance, died at a hospital, according to the coroner’s office.

A dark sedan overturned and blocked the middle lane prior to being struck, the CHP said.

The CHP issued a 3:22 a.m. SigAlert shutting down all southbound lanes of the 2 Freeway. The lanes were reopened about 5:25 a.m.

A witness at the scene told City News Service a woman had been trapped in the overturned vehicle and was taken to a hospital.
