Two men accused of killing a man in South Los Angeles in retaliation for an earlier non-fatal shooting were charged Monday with murder.
Jesse Berrospe, 32, and Oscar Arroyo, 25, both of Los Angeles, were each charged with one count of murder and expected to be arraigned today. Berrospe is also facing gun allegations.
Prosecutors said William Vanhorebeeck was having his car windows tinted in the 5900 block of S. Broadway on Dec. 20, when Berrospe and Arroyo got out of a car and fatally shot him.
Vanhorebeeck was suspected of shooting a relative of one of the two men on Oct. 5. That relative was seriously wounded, the District Attorney’s Office said.
Prosecutors planned to ask that bail be set at $1 million for each defendant.
If convicted, Berrospe faces up to 50 years to life in prison, while Arroyo faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life.
