Authorities asked for the public’s help Friday in the search for the hit-and-run driver who killed an 18-year-old man in Lancaster.

The victim was struck in the 44000 block of northbound Challenger Way around 9:55 p.m. Thursday, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Margarita Velazquez.

Ashton Hill of Lancaster died at the scene, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

There were no witnesses to the collision, Velazquez said. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the sheriff’s Lancaster station at (661) 948-8466.
