A woman suspected of fatally shooting her brother and wounding her father inside a Canyon Country apartment Sunday morning was arrested on suspicion of murder, authorities said.
It happened about 5:15 a.m. in the 18000 block of Danielson Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Both men were shot in the head — one suffering from a graze wound and the other a more serious injury, sheriff’s Lt. Tom Bryski said.
A third victim was uninjured, according to sheriff’s Deputy Amber Smith.
Both shooting victims were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where one was pronounced dead and the other was expected to survive, according to the sheriff’s department.
The surviving victims told investigators the suspect, 25, is the sister of the deceased victim, who was 28, and the daughter of the 56-year-old wounded man, Smith said.
The suspect surrendered to authorities and was booked at the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley Station on suspicion of murder, the deputy said.
A semiautomatic handgun believed used by the suspect was recovered at the scene.
Her name was not immediately released, nor were those of the victims.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were investigating the shooting and asked anyone with information to call them at (323) 890-5500.
