Authorities on Monday released the name of a woman in custody on suspicion of fatally shooting her brother and wounding her father inside a Canyon Country apartment.
Jessica Paige Greenback, 25, of Canyon Country, was being held on $1 million bail, with her first court appearance expected tomorrow, according to sheriff’s Deputy Amber Smith.
She was booked at the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley Station on suspicion of murder following the shooting, which was reported about 5:15 a.m. Sunday in the 18000 block of Danielson Street.
Her 28-year-old brother died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to sheriff’s officials. The woman’s 56-year-old father suffered a graze wound to the head, they said. Their names were being withheld.
Both men were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where the brother was pronounced dead. A third victim was uninjured.
A semiautomatic handgun believed used in the shooting was recovered at the scene.
