A 50-year-old gang member was shot to death in South Los Angeles by a young man suspected of being a member of the same gang, police said Tuesday.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of South Central Avenue and East 89th Street around 10 p.m. Monday, Los Angeles Police Sgt. James Linder said. The victim was shot once in the face, he said.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business showed the suspect, a male in his late teens wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, running northbound on South Central, away from the scene, Linder said.
