
Five people were rescued from a burning apartment in Hawthorne early Wednesday, including one who suffered minor cuts, authorities said.
The fire was reported in the 4000 block of West 133rd Street around 12:15 a.m. and knocked down by 33 firefighters in 18 minutes, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervisor Robert Diaz.
The rescuees were believed to have been on the first floor of the apartment complex, Diaz said.
