A fire caused about $330,000 in damage to a Rosemead apartment building where a possible “honey oil” marijuana extraction laboratory was found, authorities said Wednesday.

The blaze at 4265 Walnut Grove Ave. broke out about 4 p.m. Tuesday and left one firefighter with minor burn injuries.

A total of three units sustained an estimated $316,000 in structural damage, while the loss to contents totaling $14,000, said county fire Inspector Randall Wright.

Initial reports indicated there was an explosion in one of the units. Arriving firefighters saw what appeared to be an explosive device, but investigators later determined that no explosive devices were at the location, authorities said.

Honey oil is a concentrated form of marijuana.
