A 22 year-old man was in custody Wednesday on suspicion of causing a hit-and-run collision that injured five people in South Los Angeles.

The collision occurred at the intersection of East 51st Street and South Wall Street around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, a Los Angeles Police Department statement said.

The release said Enrique Ortiz went through a stop sign in his 2012 Kia Optima at the intersection and struck a 2005 Volvo S40, causing minor injuries to its five occupants.

Ortiz was arrested at his home Monday morning on suspicion of hit and run. His bail was set at $50,000, the statement said.
