A 26-year-old man suffered major injuries Sunday morning when he was struck and dragged more than 200 feet by a party bus-type vehicle that left the scene.
The man was walking on Fairford Avenue south of Ratliffe Street about 2:30 a.m. when he was hit by the southbound vehicle, said Detective Carl Anna of the Los Angeles County Sheriff‘s Norwalk Station.
He was taken to a hospital, where he was in intensive care, Anna said.
His family members told CBS2 his name is Efren Virgen Jr. of Norwalk and that he was on life support in a coma.
The vehicle was described as a black party bus, the type that “is rented out by groups for special events,” Anna said.
A witness said the bus, which had flashing interior neon lights and loud music playing inside, turned west onto Foster Road and out of view, the detective said.
Anyone who saw or was aboard the bus was urged to contact the sheriff’s Norwalk Station at
