A male was shot and seriously injured Wednesday in Southwest Los Angeles, and one suspect was arrested.

Officers went to the area of 29th Street and Buckingham Road about 12:25 p.m. on a report of a shooting, but found no victim, said Los Angeles police Officer Jack Richter.

Nearby Virginia Road Elementary School was placed on lockdown for a time, and three people were detained. One of them was finally arrested, said Officer Jane Kim.

Meanwhile, a fire station at Coliseum and 46th streets notified police that a shooting victim had been brought in by someone in a car whose rear window had been shot out. By the time police arrived, the victim had been taken to a hospital.

It was not clear who the person who drove the victim to a fire station was, or if the vehicle belonged to the victim, Kim said.

It was not clear if the shooting was gang related, she said. The investigation was continuing.
