Investigators on Thursday sought additional witnesses to the stabbing of a 15-year-old boy in Saugus during a fight that may have begun on social media.
The victim, who was stabbed in the abdomen during a fight involving several people, was attacked about 7:20 p.m. Jan. 25 at the New Horizons condominium complex in the 27600 block of Susan Beth Way, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Dubin said.
The boy was taken to a hospital and survived, Dubin said.
“This incident appears to have started on social media, which later led to the parties meeting at the condo complex, where a fight ensued,” he said.
Dubin said “in order to confirm detectives have spoken to all possible witnesses prior to presenting the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating possible witnesses to the fight.”
The deputy declined to say if anyone was arrested in the case, citing the ongoing investigation.
Anyone who may have witnessed the stabbing and what led up to it was urged to contact the detective handing the case at (661) 799-5150. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
