A passenger in a sedan was shot and killed during a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting in South Los Angeles, where another man seated in a parked vehicle was wounded by a stray round, police said Sunday.

Police also found a 22-year-old man, who may have been a suspect or victim in the shooting, wounded nearby, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

His medical condition was not immediately made public.

Officers were dispatched to the shootings, near El Segundo Boulevard and Figueroa Street, about 9:40 p.m. Saturday, police said.

They found a black SUV and a black sedan were involved in a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting, Officer Norma Eisenman of the LAPD’s Media Relations Section said.

During the shooting, a 29-year-old man sitting in a parked gold vehicle was struck by gunfire. He was rushed to an area hospital with stable life signs, she said.

“The black sedan struck several parked cars after the shooting and stopped on Figueroa, north of 127th Street, where the driver fled the vehicle,” she said. “The passenger, a male black, in the abandoned sedan suffered a gunshot to the head.

“He was pronounced dead (at the scene).”

The gunfire was believed to be gang-related and may have begun in an unincorporated sheriff-patrolled area, Sgt. Shannon Hale of the LAPD’s Southeast Station said.
