Los Angeles firefighters put down a brush fire that erupted in a homeless encampment in Sunland, according to reports from the scene.

The fire charred bamboo and other vegetation in the area of Oro Vista Avenue and Big Tujunga Canyon Road around 1:55 a.m., Monday, a news videographer reported. The flames were out in about a half-hour, he said.

Homeless encampment residents fled the scene, and no injuries were reported, according to the videographer.

What sparked the blaze was not immediately determined.
