Authorities were holding Monday an injured man who was found during a 90-minute perimeter search launched after police received calls of shots fired and a vehicle crashing into a pole, with at least one occupant running from the scene, police said.
The vehicle crash at 139th Street and Jefferson Avenue was reported at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, said Hawthorne Police Sgt. S. Nichols.
Officers established a perimeter and as a police helicopter searched overhead, residents called police to report seeing shadows of people in their yards, Nichols said.
One man with an injured knee was located after a 90-minute search and detained for questioning to determine whether he was a victim or suspect, he said, adding: “He’s not being too cooperative.”
