A Compton man was sentenced Friday to seven years in state prison for a DUI crash in Rowland Heights that seriously injured an 18-year-old man.
Pierr Gonzalez-Garcia, 22, pleaded no contest Feb. 20 to a felony count of driving with a 0.08 percent blood alcohol level causing injury, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
He also admitted allegations that he personally inflicted great bodily injury causing the victim to become comatose, that his blood-alcohol concentration was at least 0.15 percent and that he was driving at an excessive speed, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
An 18-year-old man in the car hit by Gonzalez-Garcia’s vehicle on Pathfinder Road last Aug. 1 suffered numerous injuries, including a traumatic injury to his brain and multiple facial and body fractures, according to Deputy District Attorney Lauren Guber.
