A predawn fistfight in Pomona Friday ended with one man fatally shot and the other being sought by police, authorities said.
The gunfire erupted about 3:30 a.m. near Third and Main streets, the Pomona Police Department reported.
Paramedics took a 23-year-old Ontario man to a hospital, where he died, police said. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the victim and suspect were engaged in a physical altercation prior to the shooting,” police said in a statement.
The suspect, described only as a man, was being sought. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police at (909) 620-2085.
