Firefighters sent to the 6100 block of South Wilton Place at 8:24 a.m. quickly extinguished the flames, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The injured man, a resident of the stricken house, suffered burns to 18 percent of his body, Humphrey said.
Investigators sought to determine the cause of the fire, which was confined to one room and the attic of the residence, Humphrey said. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
