Los Angeles Police will conduct a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint Friday evening in South Los Angeles, and DUI saturation patrols in the southwest region of the city.
The sobriety and license checkpoint will be conducted from 7 p.m. to midnight at the intersection of Century Boulevard and Central Avenue, according to LAPD Officer Don Inman.
The department also saturate the southwest district from 5 p.m. through 1 a.m., Inman added.
Over the past three years, there have been 7,048 DUI-related traffic crashes in Los Angeles that resulted in 60 fatalities and 2,818 injuries, according to Inman.
The checkpoint and saturation patrols are being funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Inman said.
