A tree toppled over in the front yard of a home in unincorporated North Whittier Friday, injuring two children, one of whom suffered major head trauma, a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Sergeant said.
Authorities were called to 3927 Croton Ave. just before 11:30 a.m., Sgt. Donald Nichiporuk said.
An 11-year-old boy suffered head and shoulder injuries and an 8-year-old girl suffered major head trauma, he said.
Both children, who live at the home, were taken to County-USC Medical Center, Nichiporuk said. Their names were withheld.
It was unclear what caused the tree to fall.
