A man was shot and wounded Monday by Inglewood police investigating a report of an assault, authorities said.
The officer-involved shooting occurred in the 900 block of Ash Street about 1 a.m., said Inglewood police Lt. Scott Collins.
The wounded man, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, Collins said. No officers were injured.
Officers were patrolling in the area when they received a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, and a short time later there was a confrontation with the man and he was shot, Collins said.
At least three people were detained for questioning by police, a news videographer reported. Anyone with more information on the case was urged to call police detectives at (310) 412-5246, or the 24-hour hotline number, (888) 412-7463.
