A man was fatally injured Friday at the scene of a traffic crash on the transition road from the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway to the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway, authorities said.
The fatal injury occurred at 5:37 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported. Authorities withheld the name of the man, who was 30, pending family notification.
The transition road was closed, as was the No. 5 lane of the southbound 405 Freeway while an investigation was conducted. All lanes were reopened about 9 a.m., the CHP reported.
According to the coroner’s office, the man was struck by at least one vehicle. It was not immediately clear if he was a pedestrian or if he was ejected from a vehicle, the CHP reported.
