A gunman held up employees at the Mimi’s Cafe in Whittier as they cleaned up after the restaurant was closed, police said Monday.

The robbery at the restaurant at 15436 Whittier Blvd. was carried out at 11:09 p.m. Sunday, said Whittier police Lt. Steve Dean.

“A male entered a back door after the restaurant was closed and forced employees upstairs,” Dean said. “He took their wallets and their phones and then left.”

There were no customers inside, the lieutenant said. None of the employees were injured. How much was taken was not reported.
