Authorities on Friday were investigating social media threats made recently against a girl who is a student at Lone Hill Middle School in San Dimas.

“The messages appear to be made by middle school students directed at one intended victim,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement. “The threats have been directed at a particular girl, and there is no indication that other students might be at risk.”

The victim’s age and name were not released.

“Instagram has been very cooperative, but details of the findings are not yet conclusive,” the statement said. “This is still a very open-ended investigation, which will be pursued as quickly as possible to a logical conclusion.”

School officials have cooperated with the investigation, and other students have been supportive of the victim, the sheriff’s department said. Some of the postings reportedly showed photos of weapons.
