A Long Beach Police SWAT team went to a residence in response to a report that a domestic violence suspect might be barricaded inside but the man was gone when officers entered and searched the dwelling Friday morning, police said

The standoff began around 12.30 a.m. following a domestic violence complaint made from the 900 block of Cerritos Avenue, said Long Beach police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.

Pratt said a woman was able to exit the residence from which the call came, and police believed that a male suspect remained inside.

The SWAT team was activated, and residents in adjacent properties were evacuated to a nearby school as a precaution, Pratt said. The SWAT officers entered and searched the residence, and determined about 6:30 a.m. that the suspect was gone, Pratt said. The evacuation order was lifted. The investigation was continuing.
